Despite being banned from nearly every large venue in their Washington D.C. hometown, Bad Brains set root in New York City and soon became a regular act at the famous CBGB Music Club.  The lightning bolt striking the Washington Capitol was a clear tribute to the rejection the band felt during the start of their career.  The elements of hardcore, punk, rock, and reggae laid out by the band in their original works paved the way for many bands to come including  Sublime, Fishbone, and 311.
